We’re not even at the end of the season and already the Arsenal rumour mill has been in overdrive, with the likes of Lukas Podolski, Mario Gotze, Eden Hazard and Jan Vertonghen to name but a few being linked with a move to The Emirates this summer. The latest name to appear on Arsene Wenger’s wish list is young Birmingham goalkeeper Jack Butland.
The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Cheltenham, but has already given the Arsenal scouts a lot to talk about as they have been watching the England Under-21 international on a number of occasions this season.
In my opinion, Butland would be a decent young signing for Arsenal. He has represented England at Under-21 level and would be a good backup option for Wojciech Szczesny.
It has been a while since we have been so popular in terms of players being linked to the club, and I hope that we get the names we are interested in as I feel that this is the way to prove to everyone we are a club on the up and hopefully this will do wonders in keeping Robin van Persie where he belongs.
According to the Daily Mail, It is thought that the deal for Butland would be an initial fee of £1 million which could rise up to around the £5 million mark depending on appearances. This potential move would almost likely end Lukasz Fabianski’s Arsenal career, as the Pole has struggled for games since Szczesny became our number one.
Arsenal do appear to have some competition from the likes of Tottenham, as they look for a young goalkeeper to replace the ageing Brad Friedel.
