It’s the way you finish

Following The Arsenal’s latest Lazarus act, Theo Walcott mused on the ever decreasing gap to The Spuds:

‘Tottenham have got to be watching over their shoulders now. With the squad of players we’ve got and a lot coming back from injury, we believe we can go much further. It’s been an up and down season, but it’s the way you finish and that’s the most important thing. We’ve been getting our jobs right. Defensively we were fantastic. We know we can always score goals, but lately we’ve not been conceding too many and that stat is fantastic.’

This is response to comments made by William Gallas, who recently had another panic attack, saying:

‘Now we are in trouble, but the season is still long and I think we can still make it.’

Well the true test starts now Billy. MIND THE GAP!!!

10 games to go, squeaky bum time is kicking in and The Spuds are being found wanting.

Ever since England’s heir apparent was announced, the Spuds have gone from a potential 13 point gap to one.

The arrogance of the players and fans is dissipating and ‘andshake ‘arry’s ability to manage under pressure is seriously in question.

No crying in the centre circle when the pressure gets to much this time, eh!

Well enough about the third team in London and on to another phoenix from the flames victory for The Gunners.

A revitalised Theo (knowing his place is under pressure) showed the tenacity and craft we’ve been expecting from him for the past two season. Running at the left back, with the ball, picking the right pass at the right time and providing the key input to both goals. Backed up excellently by Bacary Sagna, who has also discovered the true ability of an attacking full-back since returning from injury.

Song, Mikel and The Little Mozart were sharp and precise in their passing and tackles, and the defence were solid and steadfast to the limited Tsunami wave of attacks.

Robin continued his impeccable scoring run, netting his 44th league goal in 45 games – 60 seconds after Ben Arfa gave The Tsunami the lead with their first effort on goal.

But, unlike Milan, we had quality on the bench to call on when the time came to push on toward triumph.

And finally that triumph came, when in the 95th minute The Verminator turned Terminator to seal a deserved victory.

Last gasp winners are becoming the norm, with a 90th minute winner against Sunderland, a 93rd minute winner against Liverpool and now this 95th minute winner, but who cares, it’s the score in the top left when the fat lady sings that matters.

We are now showing we can hold our nerve in the heat of battle, something we were lacking in previous seasons.

As Theo said ‘it’s the way you finish and that’s the most important thing’.

10 games and counting…
