Here are my Arsenal player ratings from tonight’s 3-0 victory over AC Milan (feel free to argue or agree with me):

Wojciech Szczesny – The Pole was called into action two or three times during the 93 minutes and made some vital interceptions and clearances. Made a great save from Nocerino’s point blank effort in the second half. Nearly gifted Ibrahimovic a goal after a poor pass from his area into midfield – 7.5/10

Bacary Sagna – The French full-back ran his heart out tonight. Defended well and bombed forward to give extra support upfront. Can be excused for his positioning at times – 8/10

Thomas Vermaelen – Towering performance from the Belgian centre-back. Was brilliant aerially and intercepted many of Milan’s through balls to Zlatan and co. – 8/10

Laurent Koscielny – The Frenchman produced another outstanding display. Seems to be getting better and better with each game. Positioning was exceptional and made several interceptions within the 90 minutes. Scored Arsenal’s first in the seventh minute – 8.5/10

Kieran Gibbs – Was very impressed with the youngster tonight. Defended well the majority of the time and got forward when possible. Positioning errors can be pardoned under the circumstances we were under. Gave it his all – 7/10

Alex Song – Despite his poor distribution and decision making, Alex done alright on the night. Closed down well, intercepted several balls from midfield and also got forward when possible. His decision to play the killer pass in the final minute of the game was very frustrating though. Good performance, but could have been more clinical with his passing – 7/10

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Set up the opener with a great cross and won Arsenal’s penalty late into the first half. Chambo’s passing was crisp, his movement was sharp and he showed why Wenger paid the amount he did in the summer for the young star. Picked up a knock in the second half which hindered his display. Nonetheless, an exceptional performance from a truly wonderful talent – 9/10

Tomas Rosicky – The Czech midfielder continued his good form by bagging Arsenal’s second in the 26th minute with a precise finish and once again demonstrated his outstanding distribution ability – 8.5/10

Gervinho – made some clever runs forward and tracked back a lot more than usual. The African Cup on Nations final loss still looks to be playing on his mind – 7/10

Theo Walcott – Gave Milan’s left back a torrid time and made some good runs forward with the ball. His decision making still needs improving but a much better display from Theo than in recent weeks – 7/10

Robin van Persie – Thumped home Arsenal third from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute and moved well off the ball. Missed three good chances, including the gaping one from around four yards when Arsenal were 3-0 up – 7.5/10

Park Chu-Young – Came on for Walcott in the 83rd, didn’t touch the ball and committed a needless foul on the sideline in the dying moments of the game – 5/10

Marouane Chamakh – Replaced the injured Ox in the 75th minute but failed to get into the game – 5/10

  • G. Mann says:

DID YOU WATCH THE GAME? ARE AYOU A RELATIVE OF THICKO WALCOTT? 7/10 FOR WALCOTT IS RIDICULOUS, HE WAS CRAP! BUT HE ALWAYS IS.

    • Matthew says:

Fuck off you pointless twat. You think Walcotts shit but you know absolutely nothing and your a waste of space.

    • Tony Merakli says:

      G. Mann, I’m not much of a fan of Walcott, but I think he performed better than he has done, as stated in my rating for him. Wasn’t crap at all as he was given Mesbah the run around, clearly you didn’t watch the game. Most of our attacks came from the right.

  • Adams says:

I thinks rosicky deserve more than that i give him a 10 man of the match despite been a doubtful for this game and his recent contribution in the league

  • Will03 says:

Nonsensical ratings. Song deserves 5 at most, thinks he is Xavi when he ain’t nowhere near. Rosicky deserves 9. Let’s admit it, RVP sucked for the night. Missed sitters, caught offside, poor passing. 6 at best.

    • Hass says:

You obviosuly don’t watch many Arsenal games. Song was playing injured for most part of the game. You already forgot his assist against Liverpool at the weekend.

      • Matthew says:

What’s his assist at Liverpool got to do with tonight you doughnut? The guy is right RVP was not carrying the team tonight, and song was absolute dung!!! He’s played 4 games in 9 days and it really showed!

Encouraging tho was koscielny and Vermaelens determination to win the ball! Aswell as another motm performance from Rosicky! (maybe AOC)

        • Hass says:

Didn’t you see Song struggle after 25 minutes in the first half. He was injured and did his best to continue, and incase you hadn’t noticed later on in the game so was Gibbs, Oxelaide and late on Walcott. What was your position of wether Rosicky should stay or not a couple of months ago? You most likely wanted him gon I bet. Even Arshavin, you forget that in his last 5 games for Arsenal he had 3 assists and was improving but still loaned out. These two players are the Captains of their country, and most people here wanted them out of the team. All of a sudden everyone jumps ships and praises Rosicky, who all along has been a great player and needed rugular fotball ahead of Ramsey. The liverpool game was a reference to what kind of pass Song can play as comment above referred to Song thinking as though he was Xavi. Just because he attempted to play two long passes that didn’t come of doesn’t make mean he thinks his Xavi.

      • Tony Merakli says:

Hass, believe me I watch more Arsenal games than you mate, never miss one. True Song was playing with injury but his passing was shoddy yesterday, the one he did to set up RVP against Liverpoll has nothing to do with yesterday’s game at all

        • Hass says:

Actually you don’t watch more Arsenal games than me, only if you say you watch the reserve games then yes. But I have watched all Arsenal games including pre season games for the last 4 seasons or so. I don’t know why the commentator I first replied to would want to think, why Song himslef would complare himself to Xavi in the first place. I was just reminding him that Song is capable of putting quality passes by referring to the Liverpool game that was all. Since most of them became injrued and fatigue late on in the game he had to play long balls as well sometimes, only in the last minute he should have played a short ball there were about 5 runners.

OAC was a success in today’s game i tag him the messi of arsenal before the game and he has proved
    it.
    up arsenal!!!!!

  • Wengerbhoyz says:

Very fair comments! A bit harsh on el capitano! He can’t always be the saviour! He done his part! Scored a peno in a difficult situation, with the ref re- spotting it twice! Still held his cool!! Ref very por for a champs league game! Kept taking the momentum out of the game! Think his mama was from Milan!!!

  • Hass says:

Walcott and Gervinho were poor in the second half. Every attack had to go through Sagna, Rosicky or Chamberlin in the 2nd half because the wingers took on players but were going away from the goal afterwards.

  • Oti says:

I think Gervinho pulled milan’s deffence for cozzer’s goal, but for rest of the match he floped.

  • OKETCH JOSEPH MARY says:

Some of you make very disgusting comments as though Arsenal was playing against Rangers!!!!We were playing a team that is leading the table.

Our dsplay tonight was one that we cant doubt any palyers committment. Am not going to single out any player or call them names, like doughnut, but we should give credit were it is due and insteady applaude our players.

Given a 4 nil away and then have the guts displayed yesterday and win 3 nil honestly they played thier part with all they could give and given the fact that we have had a series of very strong games played and games that need equal effort put in like it was for yesterday, these boys get tired and the energy put yesterday was alot and no doubt they could not sustain it through the 90 minutes.

    VIVA ARSENAL VIVA WENGER

I think with the preasure on the arsenal lads, they perfomed well. For Alex song,i ges u guyz are being unfair to him,he has played almost all games this season and despite playing with a limp,he gave his all althou not his best.verminator, koscielny, sagna and tomas played their hearts out,the ox and gibbs were ok but lack of experience at that stage ,walcot and gevigho played crap, the keeper is improving by the day and rvp was alitle bit far from his best.for the subs,i ges we dont have depth and we cant blame the ones that were brought in coz they dont play regularly.look at tomas, coz of regular play, the guy is tops.yah, they went down but with their heads up.
