Could Arsenal sign this German ace for just £8.3M?

|

Well it looks like this proposed summer move for Lukas Podolski to Arsenal will drag on from now until the end of the season, after reports in Germany claim the 26-year-old could leave FC Koln for as little as €10 million due to a clause in his existing contract.

The German striker has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent months, with recent reports circulating that the player has already agreed personal terms with the Gunners.

FC Koln, who signed Podolski from Bayern Munich in 2009 for a reported fee of €10 million, have all but resigned to losing their prized asset this summer and had hoped to recoup a substantial amount of cash for the German international’s sale.

However, should Stale Solbakken’s side be relegated from the Bundesliga then Podolski could leave for around €10 million (£8.3m), according to Sport-Bild as reported by Goal.com.

FC Koln currently sit 14th in the German top flight, four points from 16th, and should they slip further down the table then they could potentially face a two-legged play-off with the Bundersliga 2’s third place team.

The club could also stand to lose 20% of profit from the potential sale of Podolski, which will not doubt annoy The Billy Goats. This was implemented after investors Franz Josef Wernze and Frank Asbeck, who both own 10% of Podolski’s transfer fee, helped the club buy the German striker from Bayern. Bayern are also reportedly entitled to 10% of any revenue above the €10 million mark.

Let’s hope FC Koln get relegated so we can get Podo on the cheap, rather than splash the cash. Either way, this transfer to Arsenal must happen!

  • Meanwhile, at the football, Arsenal won 2:1 today with two Van Persie goals. Chelsea lost so Arsenal go three points clear of them. Just in case the game interests you at all.

I actually wrote a a five things article prior to this article being published, plus one of my writers produced a match report, so I think I know we won 2-1 today mate

That’s rubbish! Why should u wish Koln get relegated so we get him cheaper? Low self esteem,if u ask me. United or even Spurs fans wouldn’t make such a wish.

  • Tony Merakli says:

Erm so we can buy him on the cheap rather than spend £20 million, which will not happen. Have a bit of a laugh, calm down, and don’t take everything you read so personally mate
