Footy Bunker reports that Napoli forward Ezequiel Lavezzi is being linked with a move to Arsenal this summer…really?

The Argentine winger, who starred in Napoli’s 3-1 ain over Chelsea in the Champions League earlier this week, has been in impressive form for the Serie A side this season, racking up 7 goals and 9 assists in 28 appearances for the Italians. This has drawn the attentions of Chelsea, Manchester City and Juventus, who are all said to be keeping tabs on the 26-year-old.

Arsenal have been solely relying on Robin van Persie to bag the goals for the club season, and Arsene Wenger will certainly want to relieve some of the goal-scoring burden off the Dutchman’s shoulders by signing a striker in the summer.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for unsettled FC Koln striker Lukas Podolski, but perhaps the majority of the Arsenal faithful will be more excited to see Lavezzi being linked with a move to The Emirates.

The Argentine international is a hell of a player! He bags a lot of pace, stamina, has an eye for goal and a lot of creativity in his locker.

But is this a workable transfer for Arsenal to pursue? Well not really, but It could be, if a lot of money is spent, which is like saying I’ll wear a Spurs shirt – it’s just not going to happen!

Lavezzi would be a great signing for us and could help out RVP upfront, but it looks highly unlikely that this move will ensue, especially after the Argentine recently signed a new extension on his contract and will be at Napoli for at least another season.

Besides, both Chelsea and Manchester City would eventually out bid us and can also offer a better wage package than us.

Not worth pursuing in my opinion.

why do we have to sign another striker if we are lacking of defender?
we don’t have back up for wing back like we had before.sylvinho, ashley cole, clichy.lauren, eboue, sagna, and we just have jenkinson for back up? amazing

Nah I would much rather go for Cavani, think he is a much better all round player and amazing passion for the game, will be a helluva signing and together with RVP,the best strike force in Europe

  • Billy says:

No chance, he’d cost in excess of £30m. More likely Van Persie will leave and they’ll be Walcott and Chamakh up front next season.

Then we’ll see how loyal Vermalaan and Wilshere are.

Assuming Arsenal have no chance of getting him,the next best option is to look at your players and tactics. We all know the gunners have been playing one style soccer. There is no plan B. Once the other teams stops the gunners from playing,Wenger will jump to his feet.He would remark that it’s not soccer. It;’s anti soccer.
Can you believe it. Game after game the gunners pass all over the pitch and in front of packed defences. No high ball. It’s 90% ball to feet.
No wonder. Wenger has got technical players who are below 185 cm.Bekamp said the gunners have too many similar players.
What I want are some monster sized players to scare the shit out of opposing defenders and strikers.Don’t be surprised Spurs win if the gunners resort to endless passing in full view of the Spurs defence.
