Arsene Wenger has targeted another teenage star this summer, Fiorentina’s Matija Nastasic.

According to the Daily Mail, Wenger is poised to make a summer swoop for the 18-year-old centre-back, who has already made 13 Serie A appearances for the Florence club since joining from Partizan Belgrade in January.

Nastasic is a Serbian Under-21 international and has been capped six times at this level so far.

It remains to be seen whether a move for Nastasic will actually ensue at the end of the current campaign, especially after the summer acquisition of Per Mertesacker from Werder Bremen and the recent news that Johan Djourou has signed a new deal at Arsenal which will keep him at the club until 2015.

I can’t believe I am saying this but competition for a place in our back four is currently fierce and if Nastasic were to sign then he would more than likely be placed on the bench, something he would probably be against.

Then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if Wenger does bring him in, as the Frenchman is renowned for signing young talent and moulding them into stars

For all of you who are unaware of Matija Nastasic, here is a video clip of the young Serbian in action:
