Javi Garcia’s agent has confirmed several Premier League clubs are interested in the Benfica midfielder.

Arsenal and Manchester United have been strongly linked with the 25-year-old Spaniard, who still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current Benfica contract, and although he has been eyed up by a number of Premier League sides his agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, told O JOGO that there have not been any offers made for his client as of yet:

‘There are not, and there have never been, any concrete offers.

‘But I can tell you that there are several clubs following him very carefully, especially Premier League clubs. Then there is also one Bundesliga and one Serie A club.’

Quilon concluded by saying if a ‘good offer’ is tabled at the end of the season, which both the Portuguese club and Garcia himself are happy with then they will consider it:

‘Nothing has been discussed with [Benfica] president Luis Filipe Vieira, but if a good offer for the club and Javi arrives at the end of the season, we will analyse it and then we will see.’

The former Real Madrid midfielder has made 12 Primeira Liga appearances for the Lisbon-based club so far this season, and has helped Benfica reach the Round of 16 of the Champions League.

It is believed that The Eagles have placed a €27 million price-tag on Garcia’s head, whilst another source claims the player also has a €30 million release clause in his contract.

To be honest, I don’t see us signing him as we are a club who don’t like to splash the cash on ready made players. So I will be very surprised if we do table a big bid for the Benfica midfielder in the summer.

Oh, your source for this is the People, that well-known paragon of journalistic integrity? Excuse me while I print the article off and then wipe my 4rse with it.

Well it’s not only The People that reported this story and his agent’s quotes are valid. So it does have some integrity to it.
