Arsenal target Lukas Podolski has fallen out with Cologne’s director of Sport Volker Finke, meaning a move away from the Bundesliga club could be nearing for the forward.

Cologne’s managing director, Claus Horstman, confirmed the rift:

‘The two don’t have to love each other, but they must respect each other and trust each other.’

Despite the imminent return of Gunners legend Thierry Henry, the 26-year-old German international remains Arsenal’s top target this January, as they look to improve their frontline and shift some of the goal scoring burden off of Robin van Persie.

Arsenal scouts have been sent to monitor Podolski, who has netted 14 goals for Cologne already this season, over the past few months, but the north Londeners are yet to make a move for the in-demand striker.

Podolski, whose current contract with Cologne expires in 2013, is thought to be keen on a move to the Emirates and is supposedly waiting for a deal to be struck between the two clubs.

The German outfit have reportedly slapped a £12.5 million value on Podolski, a fee which will certainly attract Arsene Wenger and many Arsenal fans.
