A deep seated frailty?

Yesterdays result against Swansea proved one thing – we do not have any depth in our squad.

The first 11 are good enough to compete with the rest of the 5/6 teams battling it out for European football next season (note I didn’t mention the title?!), but as soon as players are absent we just aren’t at the races.

Strikers – Gervinho departs for the bi-annual annoyance that is the African Cup of Nations (please move it to the summer, they can play the Copa America in July, think about it!!) and Andrey Arshavin moves up to take his place. The Russian is vastly becoming a parody of himself. He joined on the back of sixth place in the World Player of The Year and we all thought his languid running style and demeanour were just his mannerisms, now we’ve come to understand that he really can’t be arsed. From the highs of his first half season, Arshavin has rapidly retreated to a bit-part player at best, soon to be replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the pecking order.

However great the feel good factor of Henry’s return is, we all know that he isn’t the answer and that younger solutions are needed.

And Park? Please explain the point of that signing!!!

Midfield – Jack Wilshere is still out, Mikel Arteta and Francis Coquelin get injured, and Abou Diaby is nowhere to be seen. Added to that the untimely loaning out of Frimmers and with Aaron Ramsey running on empty, the midfield looks bereft of ideas and gets overrun.

And finally the defence. Well ok you can’t accommodate losing every full-back, plus any other player who could potentially play there, but the window is open. There are players available on loan; Wenger just needs to sort it.

Our benchmark game is up next. Will the 8-2 defeat or 1-0 victory Arsenal turn up?

Here’s praying the latter!

The truth lad! Andrey Arshavin is a good player that adds important dimention to a well balanced team. We are not a well balanced team at the moment. Aren’t we? Midfield looked terrible because ( Ramsey should have been competing for time on the bench). But Wilshere is injured fact Rosicky, Diaby, etc aren’t helping. So Ramsey is thrown into the fire! Conceded penelty, gave away the second goal…, can’t score to safe his life need I go on. Theo is another who can’t help the midfield because he can’t retain the Ball at all, not much creativity either. Yossi was wondering what da did I got into. No scape, noone showing for the ball (no Arteta no wilshire). Arsene himself is a helpless gambling oldman! He could gave gone for 4:4:2. Henry and robin or theo and robin up top! Rosicky, Benayoun, Ramsey, and Song Would have helped the midfield cause. In fact that should be +/- Arteta and TV for Miguel. We shall see wether the Old man can adobt? Cheers!
