We’re aiming for top four and beyond, says Arsenal no.1

Wojciech Szczesny just seems to ooze confidence and rightly so. Not only has he managed to secure his place as Arsenal’s no.1, the Pole has earnt the respect of every single Arsenal fan worldwide.

Szczesny would have made himself more popular with the Arsenal faithful this week after the 21-year-old claimed the north London club should not rule anything out and a top four finish is the least we should aim for this season:

‘We just want to win every single game from now on. We’re very confident going into every game and we feel we have what it takes to get the three points.

‘Hopefully we will climb up the table and just do our best. Realistically we are aiming for the top four but if we manage to do that then we are just going to do our best to finish as high as we can. There are lots of games, and other teams are going to drop points and I hope we can take advantage of that and catch them up.’

Shezza’s approach is great and how it should be in the position we are currently in. Arsenal are currently looking at things on a match to match basis and with us being the only English team to have already qualified for the Champions League knockout stages shows and proves how far we have come from those opening 5 fixtures.

Since then Arsenal have gone 7 games unbeaten in the league and currently sit just 2 points behind Chelsea, who are in fourth place and by all accounts struggling this season.

The media have had their say on the Arsenal ‘crisis’ since before the season got underway, and lets not forget we are still not playing a full strength squad yet.

Is Szczesny right to be aiming high? Absolutely.

We have a swagger in our game once again and players who just seem to be on fire. With the likes of Thomas Vermaelen back defending and strengthening our back-line, Theo Walcott causing endless problems for defenders and bagging assists and of course Robin van Persie, who is the top goal-scorer in the Premier League and aiming to break the record for most amount of goals scored in a calendar year, on fire, Arsenal should be positive and aiming high this season.

The January transfer window opens in just over 3 weeks and as an Arsenal fan it is a transfer window that I will expect Arsenal to once again take part in and bring in another player in order to continue this great run of form and do well in the Champions League.

Well, great post i see the gunners on the ride up the table. People talk of signings but to be fair i think we need one signing, and that is another prolific striker to supplement RVP. With the likes of Sagna, Wilshere coming back into the fold and given the rising form of oxo, Frimpong, Coqueline, Miguel and Myichi the sky will be the limit this season. Ofcourse we also need to get rid of the dead wood, ie, bentner, Vella, Squid,Denilson, Diaby and i think Rosicky will be leaving us soon.
