Arsene Wenger will not be making a move for Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff in January, insisting he has enough depth within this department.

Arsenal have been long linked with the French international and were reportedly in for the 25-year-old star during the summer.

Reports suggest Wenger is still keen on the creative midfielder and may look to acquire him on loan in January in order to bolster his midfield options.

However, Wenger insists he is happy with the midfielders he currently has at his disposal and, with Jack Wilshere set to return to the side in January, Le Boss has no plans to bring anyone in this winter, despite his admiration for Gourcuff:

Wenger told Canal+:

‘He is a player I like a lot and I believe people have been very critical towards him in France. However, we won’t be in the winter market for any midfield positions considering that our players are back from injuries.’

Gourcuff himself recently revealed that he has no intention of making an imminent move to England.

The former AC Milan man told Canal Football Club:

‘I am a Lyon player. My objective is to achieve a very good second part of the season with Lyon which could allow me to play at Euro 2012.’
