Why Arsenal should include specific clauses in all future dealings

When the pressure from Barcelona to buy our former captain Cesc Fabregas was too much for Arsene Wenger, the Frenchman eventually surrendered to public outcry and released Fabregas to them for an initial fee of £35 million plus add-ons.

But after completing the deal, Barca later claimed that they acquired the Spaniard on the cheap from the Gunners, which I quietly agree with.

A week later it was the turn of Samir Nasri to refuse to commit his future to Arsenal, claiming he wanted to move to a club that will guarantee him trophies, which initially made me think that he would favour a move to Manchester United. But he proved me wrong; he clearly considered money first and joined Manchester City to earn a whopping £170,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium.

Now it seems it’s the turn of Robin van Persie, who is yet to sign a new contract with us. The Dutchman seems to be keeping his future on the down low and all of us in limbo as to whether or not he will remain a Gunner when his contract runs out in approximately 18 months time. However, he has stated that he wants to wait until next summer before he decides anything, meaning should Arsenal fail to deliver a trophy this season, he could decide to throw in the towel and move on at a cut-price deal.

I think Wenger must include, if RVP signs a new deal, a buyout clause in his contract. This will ultimately put Arsenal in control and will force interested clubs to fork out the amount stated. He should also do this with his younger players such as Wilshere, Frimpong, Ramsey, Szczesny, AOC, Walcott etc because they are the future of Arsenal and need to be kept.

I agree with you 100 percent . Barca does it with all it’s players, especially top ones. They have added release clause in to Febregas contract for few 100 million pounds.

I agree the buy out point. Mind you why RVP (or anyone) has to renegotiate when he has some 18 months yet to run … I am yet to understand. Next summer seems reasonable to me and it will give him time to assess the ‘ new ‘ Arsenal team plus, presumably, one or two top class add ons. My guess is … no top class add ons … no deal by RVP.

Now arsenal says, they are not hurry to sign new contract for RVP.

When this stupid people will learn from their mistake.

Fab case is different. He want to go. In case of Nasri, arsenal made big mistake. They didn’t pay what he needs. What a shame from a grate club like arsenal. They are not able to keep their best player.

Same things will happen in case of RVP next summer, if we don’t win anything OR if we don’t sign good players to win.
