It seems we are linked with every player on the planet currently.

The latest to be linked with a move to Emirates, or supposedly being tracked by The Gunners, is New York Red Bulls defender Tim Ream.

Following an inspiring campaign for the Red Bulls, the USA international has recently confessed that he’s currently being tracked by Arsenal, as reported by Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old centre-back, who has been capped by USA 7 times, was asked about the strong rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal. Ream simply confirmed they wanted him:

‘I guess its public knowledge now and there have been others [teams].

‘It’s good to have teams tracking you but it can’t be a distraction either. If something comes of it, so be it. It would be a chance of a lifetime.’

West Brom are reportedly among the teams interested in his services and the player has openly admitted he would consider the possibility of securing a loan move in the future:

‘If someone comes and wants me to possibly come over on a loan deal, I think we’ll explore that opportunity.’

Salzburg, Red Bulls’ sister club, is another possible destination for the USA centre-back.

To be fair, I don’t think we need to sign another centre-back as we have enough at our disposal already. However, if Wenger can acquire one on a temporary deal in January, just in case one or two of our defenders pick up an injury (hope I haven’t jinxed it), then he should do, and Ream looks like a good option. The US star stands at 6’1’’, has good positional awareness and pace, as well as strength and determination in abundance.

In my opinion a defender is not essentially a necessity for Arsenal in January, but it wouldn’t hurt for us to acquire one on loan – just in case something unfortunate occurs during the course of the season.

  • I hope not says:

Tim Ream is an average central defender in the MLS, no way he would make it in the EPL. He’s good with the ball on his feet, but he has no idea how to actually defend anyone.
