Reported Arsenal target Riccardo Montolivo is more than likely to join either Inter or AC Milan, according to an agent close to the Fiorentina midfielder.

The 26-year-old is yet to sign a new deal at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, and as a result, is expected to be sold in January as the club attempt to avoid losing him for nothing in the summer.

However, despite reported interest from Arsenal, Giorgio Parretti believes Montolivo will remain in Italy and join either Inter or Milan:

He recently told TMW:

‘Montolivo could go so that Fiorentina does not lose him for nothing.’

‘Where do I see him? In Milan, because both teams, Inter Milan and AC Milan, could benefit.’

It’s understood that Arsene Wenger sent scouts to run the rule over Montolivo when Italy beat Northern Ireland in a Euro 2012 qualifier last month. However, this latest news coming from Italy may come as a blow to Wenger, who still looks keen to add more creativity to his midfield after losing Fabregas and Nasri in the summer.

But never write Wenger off. The Frenchman could still nab the creative midfielder from under the Italians noses, if real interest formalises in January.
