are keeping tabs on ’s in-form goalkeeper , according to Tuttomercatoweb and Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.

The 29 year-old goalkeeper, who has spent his entire career at Sevilla, only broke into the first-team midway through last season and has continued as the club’s number one this season.

Varas has caught the eye already this season with a string of fine performances, particularly against the mighty Barcelona last weekend. Varas was named man of the match at the Nou Camp, as Sevilla earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw.

The Spanish goalkeeper made a series of fantastic saves to thwart Barcelona, including a penalty save from Lionel Messi in the 95th minute.

That performance and Varas’ general contribution this season, seems to have impressed , who according to Cadena Ser, is willing to sell both and in order to fund a move for Varas, who would compete with Wojciech Szczesny for the number one shirt.

But it remains to be seen if the 6ft goalkeeper would be willing to sacrifice his current number one spot in the Sevilla side to potentially play second fiddle to Szczesny at Arsenal. Sevilla would also be reluctant to sell their player of the season so far, who only signed a new contract this month.

Varas is something of a late developer, arriving at Sevilla at the age of 23, having only previously played amateur football in Andalusia. He went on to spend several years in the Sevilla B team and had a few spells out on loan, before eventually becoming part of the first-team in the 2010-11 season.

He is now making a name for himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Spain and with more performances like the one he displayed against Barcelona, he may not be at Sevilla much longer.
