Arsenal have made Lyon’s Clement Grenier their number one transfer target this January and have apparently already tabled a €9.2 million bid for the midfielder’s services, according to eyefootball.com.

Arsene Wenger, who is believed to be a keen admirer of the 20-year-old Frenchman, has been in regular contact with Arsenal’s chief scout Steve Rowley, who has been monitoring the youngster for over a year now.

Sources in France believe that the Lyon star is being lined up by the Gunners to replace Samir Nasri, who left for Manchester City during the summer. However, Arsenal’s supposed €9.2 million is way short of the reported €14 million valuation that Lyon have placed on the France Under-20 international.

Despite being a good friend with Wenger, Remi Garde has told his former boss that the Ligue 1 club are planning to keep hold of the technical midfielder, which means Arsenal either have to step up their efforts to sign Grenier or simply look elsewhere.
