‘I think top four is out of their reach now’

Arsenal legend Lee Dixon believes that his former club simply do not have what it takes to finish in the top four this season.

Dixon, who won two domestic doubles under Arsene Wenger, recently told BBC Sport:

‘I think top four is out of their reach now, I really do, so you are looking at top six. Yet the way they are playing now, can they reach the top eight?’

Right now is probably the worst time I can remember being an Arsenal fan, and I hate to agree with Lee Dixon on this one, but I think he is right. A top four finish is really looking doubtful and with the injury list mounting up we are going to need some serious investment come January, otherwise we could easily face next season out of the Champions League and out of Europe altogether.

The Arsenal board need to realise that NOW is the time to act. They need to stop being so greedy with our finances. The club we all love is at risk of huge failure this season and unless something is done, and done quickly, we are going to lose a lot more players next summer, as there will be no chance of us keeping Robin van Persie, Thomas Vermaelen, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere if we have no European football to offer them next season.

Dixon went on to place more blame on Arsenal’s defence. The former Gunners full-back said:

‘Arsenal get themselves into positions where they are the better team in midfield for big chunks of the game but defend like schoolboys by giving two goals away and numerous other chances that can be avoided.’

I couldn’t agree more.

Currently, I think it’s safe to say that we are useless when it comes to defending; yes we have moments that we are good, however, over the course of 90 minutes we give the ball away far too easily and this needs to change.

Watching the last few games has probably aged me by about 10 years!!!

Jack Wilshere is under contract until 2015 and has been with Arsenal since he was 9. He will not leave Arsenal if we finish outside of the Champions League spots this summer.

I believe that Arsenal can reach the top four but only if they they start winning games from now on until January then that way they have a chance…but being realistic i see Arsenal reaching the 6th place in the Premier League
