Is this Lille starlet set for a winter arrival?

Arsene Wenger is confident that he will sign Lille starlet Eden Hazard for approximately £28 million when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Wenger made the 21-year-old Belgian one of his top transfer targets during the summer, but ran out of time to seal a deal for his services, with the French club unable to find a suitable replacement for the winger.

An Emirates source was quoted in the Daily Star recently saying:

‘The deal was very close to happening but it couldn’t be done in time.’

‘Negotiating had all but been done but Lille didn’t have a suitable player to come in for Hazard so it fell short.’

‘But Arsene will make it come January.’

Let’s just hope that this deal does in fact ensue in January, as Hazard is seen by many Arsenal fans (including me) as a perfect replacement for Samir Nasri, as well as a top quality player who can make the team much stronger.

    Hazard in Arshavin out
    MVila in Diaby out
    Cahill in Squillaci out
    Martin in Rosicky out
    Vertonghen in Djourou out
    Benzema in Chamakh out
    Almunia out

That is the next 2 windows for me.

This will leave 4 places in the squad for “over 21’s” Szczesney, Ramsey, Lansbury and Botelho. Easy this football management stuff.

Why use “STARLET” are they pooftas? What’s wrong with “Young Guns” or “Up and coming Stars”..?

  • David says:

Will not happen in January, as he would be cup tied. Lille will not release him

  • mc gooner says:

if they find a replacement and the prof is willing to spend the cash then i don’t see why it cant happen.

@David: cup tied? To play what? What if we don’t qualify for KO rounds?
And even if, does it really matter? He won’t be cup tied for the EPL, and that’s what we have to work on, not some unrealistic dream like CL atm…
In worst case, he’d be missing couple of CL games, and better January than never…
For a player like that, please Wenger, ignore the cup-tied thing.
You have to buy players for the future of Arsenal, for them to stay, not for their resale value or their bargain price, or just for one competition…(yes, I’d have had Lucho rather than Arteta any day, but again, even in the red, we keep looking at how much we can re-sell a player rather than picking the best person for the role… Please change that “rule”…)

  • Wickie says:

Let me speak prophetically: if we sell almunia, squilaci, djorou, denilson, diaby, rosiscky, bentner, chamakh and get cahil, m’vila, marvin, gotze, hazard and odemwingie coached by wenger i wonder what we cannot achieve
