Arsenal reportedly failed in a last ditch move for Fiorentina striker Stefan Jovetic.

The 21-year-old Montenegrin forward, who missed the entire of last season with a cruciate knee ligament injury, is now back to full fitness and was on Arsene Wenger’s radar on transfer deadline day. However, a move failed to materialised.

Jovetic, who has been compared to Italy legend Roberto Baggio due to his playing style and shaggy hairstyle, has bagged 13 goals and 9 assists in 72 appearances for the Florence club since joining from Partizan in 2008 for a reported £7.3 million.

The Serie A side’s former coach and advisor Roberto Galbiati recently revealed the two Premier League clubs interested in the forward and also claimed that it was Arsenal who made the first move for the Montenegro international on deadline day:

Galbiati told TV station Italia 7:

‘It’s not only Chelsea who want Jovetic, but Arsenal also.’

‘Arsenal, on the last day of the summer transfer market, submitted a bid to Fiorentina but the club refused.’
