Having signed Park Chu-young from Monaco yesterday, we here at Gunnersphere.com thought we would give you the low down on Arsenal’s newest recruit.

So, here are 10 things you should know about Arsenal’s latest signing:

1. Born in Deagu, South Korea, Park Chu-Young, who is a forward, started his professional career at FC Seoul.

2. Arsene Wenger was not the only Premier League manager to keep and eye on Park Chu-Young, over the years the striker has attracted interest from Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

3. Park Chu-Young prefers to be called ‘Ju’ and has experience at international level with South Korea in Under-20 and Under-23 level. Ju scored 18 goals in 26 appearances for the Under-20 team and 8 goals in 21 appearances at Under-23 level.

4. He had an immediate impact after signing for FC Seoul in 2005, scoring 18 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions. During this season, he was named K-Leagues Best Young Player and top goal scorer and received a World Cup call up in 2006.

5. Sadly, Ju didn’t have a great World Cup, only appearing in 1 game. However, he was named Man of the Match.

6. Having secured a move to Monaco on the 1st of September 2008, the forward wanted to ensure that he paid back the decision to buy him and did so in style, scoring inside 30 minutes on his debut against FC Lorient – he also assisted with another goal, earning him the Man of the Match award.

7. Spending almost 3 years at Monaco, his final goal tally for the French club was 25 goals in 91 appearances.

8. Park Chu-Young was named in the 2011 Asian Cup squad, but was unable to partake due to injury. However, he has been named captain of South Korea following the International retirement of Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung.

9. On the 30th of August 2011, Park Chu-Young was officially unveiled as an Arsenal player. It was announced that the South Korean will be wearing the no.9 shirt with the name J.Y Park on his back.

10. The Initial deal is for two-and-a-half years, where Ju will need to return to South Korea for military service in 2013, it is unknown at this time if he will return to the Emirates.

    please Mr Wenger you cannot afford to loan Thomas when player like Ramsey is in first eleven.Ramsey is more useless and lazy than Thomas,and not skillful than him.
