Andrey Arshavin has dismissed recent reports linking him with a move away from Arsenal to Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.

The 30-year-old, who made 27 appearances in the Premier League for The Gunners last season, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates, with Anzhi being the latest club expressing their interest in the Russian international.

Anzhi, owned by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, have already managed to acquire Yuri Zhirkov from Chelsea and are thought to be close to signing Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o.

The Russian club have now turned their attention to the out-of-favour Arsenal forward, but Arshavin insists he is staying at the Emirates, dismissing rumours of a possible summer exit.

Arshavin recently told Sport Express:

‘These are just rumours.’

‘I’ve always said that I’m playing where I want – in a top European club.’

However, Arshavin did mention that if he were to ever to depart north London then it would be for only two teams:

‘If I ever decide to come back to Russia, Zenit would be my first priority. As for Europe, there’s only one club I would never go to – Real Madrid, because I’m a Barcelona fan.’
