Surely Wenger wouldn’t contemplate the sale of this star?

Arsenal are already bracing themselves for the eventual departure of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. Though Arsene Wenger claims that he is going to keep both at all costs, if tempting offers do come from clubs like Man City and Barcelona, the Frenchman is bound to consider them.

Amidst all this, reports have emerged that Real Madrid are preparing a £30 million bid for Arsenal forward Robin van Persie.

Madrid found themselves in a spot of bother last season when Gonzalo Higuain was ruled out for six months and Karim Benzema failed to impress. Because of this, Real had to turn to Man City outcast Emmanuel Adebayor to shore up their front-line. With Adebayor not doing enough to please Jose Mourinho, he has decided to try and land in form Arsenal striker Van Persie so that last season’s problems don’t hamper Madrid again this year.

The Dutchman enjoyed a fantastic second half of the season, as he scored 22 goals in just 26 starts for Arsenal. He was one of the very few bright spots in Arsenal’s embarrassing finish last season. He scored in a record nine successive away games and just fell short of the league’s top scorer award despite missing the entire first half of the season.

With Arsenal about to lose several key players and the trophy drought not anywhere close to ending, Wenger faces the prospect of losing another of his stars as RVP is braced for an offer from the most successful club in Europe.

But will Wenger even listen to such offers? £30 million is a huge sum to consider, but will the Frenchman ever contemplate selling Arsenal’s most committed player? Of course he is injury-prone, but didn’t he stay fit and lead the team last season?

Leaving out Fabregas and Nasri, Robin Van Persie is Arsenal’s best player by a mile. When he is injury free, he is arguably one of the best strikers in England. Apart from his fantastic goal scoring abilities, the Dutch striker also possesses a great eye for a pass. Most importantly, he also has a great passion for Arsenal.

Ever since he arrived from Holland, he has been a fantastic servant for the club and has given his all whenever he has been on the field. This commitment is something that not many Arsenal players have and because of this the club shouldn’t sell him at any cost.

Van Persie himself will not want to leave the club. He is an important player at Arsenal and any success at the Emirates will be more pleasing than winning it at Real Madrid.

With Higuain and Benzema, Van Persie will not be assured of a starting spot. With Mourinho contemplating a 4-3-3 formation this season, even if RVP stars, he will be playing on the wings and that is not something he will be comfortable with. It will also jeopardize his importance to the Holland national team and the 27-year-old takes a lot of pride in playing for the Oranje. And having missed a lot of football since his move to Arsenal, Van Persie will be rearing to go and will want to reward Arsenal’s patience and faith in him.

He has recently stated that he is feeling fitter than ever before and will want to play as much football as possible – he will not want to warm the bench at the Bernabeu.

Arsenal can survive without the grace of Fabregas and the guile of Nasri, but not without the passion and commitment of Van Persie, and I for one am pretty sure that Wenger is aware of this.

In my opinion, Arsenal fans need not worry – RVP is going nowhere.

Pathetic story. No baseline, no depth, no truth in it. Assumptions are not facts.

The story isn’t pathetic. We’ve got a baseline and we are just trying to bring news from different sources. And it isn’t an assumption, pal. And we don’t say these are 100% true stories. It is a rumour and we try to bring them to our readers.

van persie is a poor man’s drogba.

  • HowardEs says:

Fair play there. Reason I called this an assumptions is because the current ‘unambitious’ atmosphere at the club is mostly a made up lie by the media. What Wenger, the board and players say is totally different to what the media brings out. Would Wenger REALLY consider selling RvP?

    • gunnerviv says:

I agree there mate….I myself don’t think that Arsenal are unambitious but rather sensible….and as I said in the end, Wenger will not sell RVP to anyone….

  • Joe says:

I quote you..’With Arsenal about to lose several key players’

Says who! Certainly not Arsene Wenger, but why would I believe him before you. Or are you making an assumption. Oh sorry, you don’t make assumptions do you. You bloggers make me laugh. Pathetic.
