Gervinho can’t wait to get his Arsenal career underway and pinpointed the guidance and tuition of Arsene Wenger as the key reason why he signed for the Gunners over other interested parties this summer.
The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international finalised his transfer from French double winners Lille to Arsenal yesterday for a reported fee of around £11 million, and is believed to be relishing the prospect of testing his abilities in the Premier League.
He was quoted on talkSPORT.com saying:
‘When you are young, you always want to improve, to work with great managers – and Arsene Wenger is one of the best in the world. I think that with him, I will become a much better player, and he was very important in my choice to sign here.’
‘I came here because I believe that he can improve my game and help me reach another level, but the most important thing for me is that I bring a lot to the team for whom I am playing.’
‘I want to use my time here at Arsenal to develop my strengths. I know English football is harder and I might need a bit of time at the start, but ultimately it is down to me to raise my game and adapt.’
‘With the help of the team, I hope I can do that quickly. I will prepare well to be ready by the start.’
Without a doubt, the Premier League is a massive step up from the Ligue 1, but I think, with time of course, Gervinho can make the grade.
Under the tuition and guidance of Arsene Wenger, as well as his new team-mates showing him the ropes at the club, Gervinho could not only become a big hit at Arsenal, but a big hit in the Premier League as well.
Here’s hoping that our new man settles in comfortably and bags us a few goals as well as some assists in the upcoming season.

Correct … that is why young players (eg, Gervinho) want to come to Arsenal. Wenger can make them really good so that they can then leave and cash in … just when we need them to stay. How many mature winning fully developed want to join us … not many.
