Does this French ace really have to leave Arsenal to fulfil his ambitions?

In the last two weeks or so, much has been reported about Samir Nasri’s future at Arsenal.

The Frenchman, who has one year left on his existing contract, is contemplating his future at Arsenal after last season’s trophyless season.

Due to the 24-year-olds hesitance to sign a new deal at the Emirates, many clubs, most notably Manchester United, have confirmed their interest in Nasri.

The French midfielder told the News of the World yesterday, that money isn’t the issue, but success is:

‘Money has never been my motivation, I have always taken decisions from a football point of view. I don’t want to sign for a club where I wouldn’t be playing the football that I like, where I wouldn’t feel happy, just for the sake of money.’

It appears that Nasri is hungry for success and that is completely understandable. However, part of the achievement in actually winning a trophy is earning it.

Will Manchester United win a trophy without him? Yes, without a doubt.

Will he benefit the club in a huge way, probably not.

At Arsenal, the Frenchman needs to play, and play well throughout the season, not just six-months. It is certainly going to be a challenge for him. However, to give up and jump ship to another team that are probably 75% certain of getting a trophy next season doesn’t mean he’s earned it.

Nasri continued:

‘With no titles under your belt, you can’t be in the list for the Ballon D’Or. I came to England to get trophies because I haven’t won anything in my career, apart from an U17 European Championship in 2004.’

Let’s look at it in two ways:

1) Nasri decides to stay and Arsenal win a trophy this season. Now, if this were to happen, then I believe this would kick start us into achieving bigger and better things in the future. However, it means sticking by the club as well as Wenger doing his job in the market as well.

2) If Arsenal don’t win a trophy this season, and Nasri hasn’t signed a new deal, then he could potentially leave on a free next summer to the team of his choice.

Arsenal are an ambitious club and we should have won a trophy last season, but we blew against Birmingham in the Carling Cup. However, we should take the positives of last season and improve on them in order to break our drought.

I hope that the likes of Nasri and Fabregas do stay at Arsenal this summer and repay the club which have made them stars by lifting a trophy this upcoming season.

Nasri does necessarily have to leave in order to fulfil his ambitions. We are almost there, and with some decent signings this summer, we should end out six-year trophy drought.

So come on Nasri and Fabregas, prove to the fans you meant it when you kissed the Arsenal badge last season.

I don’t like players who don’t have desire and fighting spirit for a club which has nurtured them . Nasri should learn from Cesc who does not say anything negative about his club .Nasri is not repaying the faith which Wenger used to bring him to Arsenal. He was told that the club was in a transition and needed players like him who fit technically into the brand of football Arsenal stand for .
After all that he is now ready to jump ship after 6 months of good football. We have seen legends at Arsenal before ,Henry , Bergkamp , Viera , and these stand out because they lived and breathed Arsenal through and through .We need more players like them not Nasri ,who faults the manager for lack of silverware when he played in the Carling Cup and failed to turn up .

Players who want to leave have no loyalty and belief in themselves;therefore, they are unable to deliver and bring success to their club. I wish Clichy the best as he served the club for 7-8 years but I doubt that he will find success at man city…Re Nasri it is Arsenal who made you and you are better off staying at the Emirates to prove yourself… We need loyal players like Bergkamp, Viera and Henry… who at least served the club until their late 20’s

I am sick of wenger. Forget being in contention of winning the league, we are now at a point of fighting to stay in the 4th spot. Can you blame nasri for wanting away, when there are talks of Fabregas moving to another club, with intention or ambition shown in wengers part to find a adequate replacement? Downing, and Doyle… these are the names we are linked with… un effin believeable! I am going to be sick…. what has become of my club 🙁
