Valencia’s Juan Mata has emerged as Arsenal’s top summer target, and it is also believed that the Gunners have launched an £18 million bid for the Spanish World Cup winner, according to several reports.
The 23-year-old, who this weekend captured the European Under-21 trophy with Spain, is thought to be up for sale this summer due to Valencia being £327 million in the red.
However, if Arsene Wenger wishes to acquire the Spaniards services, he will have to move quickly, as he is also wanted by Liverpool, Manchester City and Barcelona.
Mata’s eye for goal, movement and creativity are the main reasons why Wenger wants to smash the clubs transfer record and bring the Spaniard to the Emirates.
Undoubtedly, this would be a great acquisition on Wenger’s part, and would surely get the fans on his side, as well as show his intentions in the transfer market.
I have been a keen admirer of Mata for a long time as his ball control, creativity and passing ability are exceptional – he is also a consistent performer and a player that can ultimately change a game in an instance.
£18 million may seem much to some, but to be honest, I believe we would be stealing from Valencia at that price.
I just hope this interest by Arsenal is a concrete one, as I feel Mata, who can play on the wing or behind the striker, would fit right into our system and suit our style of football.
Fingers crossed that we are successful in acquiring him this summer, as he could potentially take over from the want-away Cesc Fabregas.

Would love Mata to replace Nasri and would also take £35m plus Thiago for Cesc. It would really help if these 2 came together along with Toral and Bellerin in the U18’s i am sure the 4 “spaniards” would gel quickly and settle in even quicker.

Would be a great signing. I can see him coming to Arsenal and with that being complete, Fabregas will go to Barcelona. Nasri will then sign on with the promise of a more central role.
