‘I think he’s looking for more money’

Arsenal legend Frank McLintock recently claimed that Samir Nasri’s desire to leave is purely based on money and that if he were to depart, then it would leave a big hole in the side.

I for one am very surprised at Nasri’s decision to even think about leaving Arsenal this summer.

The French midfielder had one good season since arriving his switch from Marseille back in 2008, and now all the sudden he wants a huge wage increase? Ridiculous.

McLinktok told talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show:

‘I think he’s looking for more money obviously. I don’t know what he’s on, £60-70,000-a-week, and he’s looking for £110,000.’

If we are to believe what we hear in the media, then McLintock is absolutely correct. The only thing that is keeping Nasri from signing a new deal is money – this was suggested by Arsene Wenger himself and the Frenchman’s agent.

To be honest, I am getting increasingly concerned over players that have a good season and then demand more money. To be fair, Samir did have one good season, but that’s it – he didn’t have a fantastic one. If he has a fantastic one, then I would be a bit more willing to look at a huge increase to keep him, but he didn’t.

In my view, selling him to Manchester United would be a huge mistake, and would only add to the distance between the clubs.

Currently, we have only made one signing in Carl Jenkinson, and if reports are true, we are going to lose Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. I truly believe that there is a possibility of keeping both players IF we actually sign some quality players.

If Nasri wants the extra cash, then I suggest he starts earning it. I want him to stay, and truly hope that he does, but he needs to prove that he is worthy of being amongst our top earners. However, at the same time, we do not want him to leave for nothing next summer, so hopefully this situation is resolved sooner rather than later, and that both parties can agree an efficient deal.

He and wenger and the arsenal board can all go to hell..i dont blame all these players having a good season and wanting a move to other clubs all in the name of earning more money…human needs are insatiable..i think its high time wenger wand the board woke up from their slumber and start keeping our prized assets.how on earth will u build a team and sell the players when they are ripe..SMH

But Nasri never had a good season, he had half a good season. £20-25m for a player that only became a regular last season because Cesc was injured and Arshavin was off form, is a bloody good deal. Just get rid of the 5 players (Nasri, Clichy, Cesc, Denilson, Bendtner) that dont want to play for us for the best price we can get, then evaluate our squad and transfer budget then buy what we need from there. We should get at least £75m for those 5. Add that to the transfer budget and we should have about £120m. If we still need to strengthen further, there is the dross squad, we could raise another 30m by selling, Almunia, Eboue, Squillaci, Traore, Rosicky, Diaby and Vela.

Wenger is unwilling to give wages Nasri is asking. If Alex is willing to pay there is nothing wrong to move. Alex shows he is well prepared for next season. Alex has identified the players that he wants and signs them(Phil Jones, Ashley Young, David De Goa and now Nasri in awaiting.) What above Wenger? Don’t accuse players when the coach is not doing his work.

You’re spot on Adeola, even if he had one good game and that is it, so what? If the market is willing to pay whatever he wants then that is how the cookie crumbles. Y should there be exceptions for Arsenal? This all comes back to us realizing that by setting our rules, our wage structure, our this and that—that is all good and well, but the reality could be very different and then we spend time wondering whats wrong with players! Any ambitious player (which is what we need) have ambitions and dreams (trophies and cash) Even the players we buy this season, if they make it big, then trust me in 2, 3 years time they will realize clubs are willing to double their wages!

I would ask for more if i were Nasri.
    1. Arsenal is not making any move to fortify the team by bringing in qualitity players, therefore, the only way to get out and get good clubs vying for trophies would be to offer what Arsenal cannot pay.

    2. It is business you are ony as good as your last game. Would Arsenal pay him half of that if he wasn’t that good? They would be quick to ship him off without any notice. So strictly business and no sentiments. Like putting up Denilson for sale on ebay (by fans)

    3. Arsene wenger is one of the highest paid managers in football history (if not the highest). So why does he have problems with nasri asking for an increase? Nasri’s salary is even nowhere near that of yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Drogba and so on.

    4. Conclusion. Leave fans out of business, pay players what they want if you can afford it, if not, let them go. Six years without a trophy! I hope Van persie asks for a transfer too!. goners indeed.
