Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the progress of German Under-17 international Samed Yesil, according to talkSPORT.

The 17-year-old striker, who is yet to break into the Bayern Leverkusen first-team, has attracted the attention of several clubs across Europe after his impressive performances in the European U-17 Championship earlier in the year.

Yesil managed to bag 9 goals in 11 appearances throughout the process of the tournament, which won him the competition’s Golden Boot award.

The German youth has been equally prolific in front of goal for Leverkusen’s Under-19 side, netting a stunning 24 goals in 21 appearances.

Reports in Germany claim that Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in the German youth star, and could possibly enquire about his availability during the summer.

Undoubtedly, Yesil’s record for club and country looks great, but I think Wenger should focus more on the present rather than the future this summer, then again, if the Frenchman can acquire the young striker for a minimal fee then why not.

The video clip below shows his goal (the first one) in the European Under-17 championship final against Holland earlier this year:
