Schalke midfielder Jose Manuel Jurado has emerged as a potential replacement for Cesc Fabregas if he departs Arsenal this summer.

It is understood that Arsene Wenger has been keeping tabs on the Spanish midfielder and has been impressed with what he saw in last season’s Champions League when the German outfit reached the semi-final stage.

Although the Bundersliga club were mauled by Manchester United 6-1 on aggregate, the 24-year-old came through the tie with some credit by scoring the goal against the Premier League champions at Old Trafford.

Prior to their tie with United, the Spaniard produced an excellent performance in their 7-3 aggregate win over former Champions League winners Inter Milan, and also in Schalke’s 3-0 home win over Lyon – it is believed that these matches were the ones in which the Arsenal boss followed particularly closely.

The former Atletico Madrid man was sold at the start of last season for £11.4 million (€13 million) and if Wenger is truly interested in his services this summer, then the Frenchman could snatch the Spanish midfielder for around a similar fee.

Rumours are circulating that the German club are desperate to raise funds to clear some long-standing debts, and may have to sell their big-name players in the upcoming weeks in order to do so.

The midfielder, who has been capped at Under-21 level for Spain, is able to play as an attacking midfielder, on the left wing, or can be deployed ‘in the hole’ behind the striker. Jurado possesses good playmaking ability, dribbling skills as well as a very effective shot.

To be honest, I was impressed with the Schalke man last season and have been a fan of the player since his La Liga days – he’s got talent. However, whether or not he is capable of filling our captains boots (if he leaves of course) is up for debate.

Jurado made 44 appearances for Schalke last season, where he managed to bag 8 goals as well as 4 assists.

Impressive, his curling shot is 1 of the best techniques Ive seen in a while, does it so quick, shifts to his right leg in 1 quick movement and with nearly no effort hits it with power in the corner of the net, and not just a fluke as he doesnt time and time again.
    sign him up 🙂

  • You actually make it appear so easy together with your presentation however I in finding this matter to be actually something that I believe I would by no means understand. It kind of feels too complex and very broad for me. I am looking ahead for your next publish, I?ll try to get the dangle of it!
