Wenger plans to be active during summer transfer window

|

So another season goes by, and after an incredible start to the campaign, our side leave the 2010/11 Premier League with nothing.

It’s something we’ve come to expect from the boys in red, but it still doesn’t stop us from being left highly disappointed, after yet another frustratingly disappointing end to the league season.

I went to Craven Cottage yesterday, hoping that our side could end the season on a high, by getting 3 points. But unsurprisingly, we failed to deliver and didn’t achieve the victory. Ultimately, we were probably a little lucky to steal a point!

Admittedly, there is part of me that is glad that the season is finally over. At least we will all get a break from the disappointments, that Arsenal seem to bring us each week.

But obviously, like all of you I’m sure, I’ll miss the routine matchday experience I love participating in each week. I went to Stoke earlier this month, expecting us to avoid victory. And we all saw what happened there. But of course, that didn’t stop me from enjoying a fantastic day out, travelling up and down the country to support my team.

On a much lighter note, Arsene Wenger has come out and stated that he is planning for a busy transfer window. However, he also insisted that no one should expect any big-money Summer signings for The Arsenal.

‘we will try to buy the right players. Spending is not a purpose, it’s not our goal. We want the right players.’

Some of you may be disappointed, but I’m with Arsene on this one. Like I’ve suggested multiple times in recent weeks, we need to spend realistically and logically. We can’t compete with the likes of Chelsea, Man City and the other teams who are in a position to buy so-called “world class” players, for ridiculous amounts of money. And I hope you have all accepted that by now?

For me, it’s the right thing. It’s the right way to go about running a financially stable and sustainable football (business) club. I’ll always be proud to think that we’re perhaps the only big club remaining that still conducts business with a sensible transfer policy.

The question is now, how much is too much for Arsene and the board? At this moment in time, I don’t know. Together, we’ll all have to wait and see what the club gets up to in the upcoming transfer market.

Honestly, it was a very poor league season, for the teams at the top. All 4 were too inconsistent, and looking back, the title could have been won by anyone, including us!

I will always state that this season’s Manchester United are probably the worst Champions ever. But before I start to sound bitter, I’ll move on.

I expect one or two of our big players (and Nicklas Bendtner) to leave Arsenal this Summer, so I’m hoping that we are particularly busy in the transfer window this Summer.

With Manchester City (finally) achieving a Champions League spot, and also based on the current campaign that has just gone by, transfer activity is sure to prove pivotal for next season’s final league standings. Already, I am able to say that with utter confidence.
