The most frustrating religion – Emirates FC

|

I woke up on Monday and things felt odd, no knot in my stomach, no overriding feeling of tension or frustration. It was a feeling I had begun to forget, but one I was overjoyed had returned.

To me, Sunday proves it all:

– It proves why being a Gooner is the most frustrating religion around.

– It proves that we can play, we just forget sometimes.

– It proves we can see out games, we just panic sometimes.

– It proves that project youth can work, it just needs a bit of experience to back it up.

– It proves that Wenger might not always know best, but he knows a damn sight better than me!! Also, hopefully this will prove to Cesc that the potential, passion and ability is in the team and that he should stay and finish Wenger’s grand plan.

For the past 40 years or so I thought I’d been supporting Arsenal, but recently I’ve been informed that I am wrong, and in fact, because my season ticket commenced in 2006, I am a fan of Emirates FC!!!

This concerned me somewhat as I truly believed I was a Gooner, so I thought I’d better check some of my old ticket stubs and programmes…can’t see any reference to The Emirates FC, so better dig deeper!!

This all came to light after speaking to some mates back in the UK in the last few weeks. They said that football violence had returned to Arsenal? A good old Saturday afternoon kicking in the North Bank for some ill-informed Spuds who thought it would be good to infiltrate behind enemy lines you’d assume. Well no, actually it was Gooner vs. Gooner on the new battle lines of Highbury vs. Emirates. I understand the frustration when things aren’t going well, but is a scuffle with one of your own really the answer? No it isn’t!!

There is a serious issue here:

We want to win silverware, therefore we want to keep, and attract world-class players to our club. We want to promote the Arsenal ‘Brand’ around the world and try to increase our standing on the world stage.

Would you have anything to do with Arsenal if the fans are rioting amongst themselves?

No, of course not. So a pious few, who call us second class supporters just because our season ticket hasn’t been in the family for 4 generations, are doing their best to derail all Wenger’s hard work and send us back to the days of Terry Neil, mid table obscurity and freezing your nips off standing in The North Bank. Oh and by the way, I do know what that felt like!!!

We were all Arsenal fans in my eyes and if you start to make a distinction between pre and post Highbury season ticket holders then we are no better than Chelsea.

Remember we are Arsenal: History and class. We are not Chelsea: all shown and no substance. Keep the following in mind:

1 – Victoria Concordia Crescit.

2 – To misquote my life guru Will Smith: ‘We ride together, we die together, Gooners for life’.

The Fact is that our home support is no better than Chelski’s… in fact in my opinion ours is worse. I am pretty sure i have only enjoyed about 3 home games this season! Our fans are just awful at home! There is no support inside our stadium. It’s an absolute disgrace. And to think many of these fans slag off Arsene for not winning trophies etc… we the fact of the matter is that it is our home form that has made us suffer. You can’t blame the team or the manager cos the team all play with fear at home, becuase if they do something some of the crowd does not like then they will get booed!!!! Therefore instead of playing with freedom they play with the pressure of the world on their shoulders and this is the fault of our horrendous home support! I have been a season ticekt holder since 1995 and yes at times Highbury was quiet but no where near as bad as the atmosphere is at the Emirates (what atmosphere I hear you say!). Our away support are second to none but home support is a disgrace!

never mind winning silverware. I will be happy if we manage to stay in the premier league this season, never mind silverware or a top four finish. Wenger and this board has taken us so far downhill that I really am concerned that we might be in a relegation battle this year. but then again maybe I am feeling down after losing unluckily to Man U Blackburn and spurs this year. AKB fans get a life and open your eyes
