Szczesny lauds Lehmann teachings

|

Wojciech Szczesny has praised Jens Lehmann’s guidance since his return to Arsenal, and insists the German has all the qualities to be a world-class goalkeeping coach in the near future.

The 21-year-old Pole joined the Gunners a few weeks after Lehmann departed the club in the summer of 2007, but has been a major recipient of the 41-year-old’s tuition since his shock return to North London in mid-March.

Despite yet another trophyless season at the Emirates, many Arsenal fans will feel that Szczesny’s emergence is just one of many major plusses to take away when the season ends this month. The Polish goalkeeper told Arsenal.com how Lehmann has helped him hone his skills and, more importantly, develop his overall game:

‘It’s very interesting actually – after every game he talks to me in great detail. He also takes me to one side at training, or when we’re doing some stretching, and gives me a lot of advice about little aspects of my game.’

’It’s not about big things, because I haven’t made many massive mistakes, but he spots little details and uses his experience to help me. That’s really useful and I’m very grateful for it.’

’It’s been enjoyable, and I’m looking forward to working with him more because I do learn a lot from him. He definitely has the qualities to be a very good coach – he has an ability to give out information in a very clear way, so that you can understand all his advice.’

Despite only making one appearance this season, it is thought that Jens Lehamann is focused more on acquiring his coaching badges and, evidently, passing down knowledge to the current crop of young Arsenal goalkeepers.

Szczesny will only get better under Lehmann’s tuition. What better way to improve his goalkeeping then learning off the goalkeeper who was part of the invincible team. He can only get better and better. It’s also great to see Szczesny praising and acknowledge that he has learn’t so much from him and probably can’t wait to learn more off him.

Oi, all those of you who ridiculed Wenger for re-signing Lehmann, i hope you’re feeling stupid now.

Did you all see him dribbling the ball to the corner of the box before picking it up at the end of the game against United, that’s typical Lehmann. I think this keeper is sensational for his age and i can see how Lehmann would make a good coach. He always came accross as very intelligent and precise in interviews.

He’s doing well & some coaching from Mad Jens has
got to be good. One tip he’s missed though is not
to do big hoofs down the pitch in the dying minutes of the game & so giving possession back to the opposition…3 X in the last 5 minuts of the Man U game!!!!
