Should Wilshere ignore Wenger’s wishes and participate in Euro U21 Championships? – Have your say

|

19-year-old Arsenal starlet Jack Wilshere is at the centre of a huge row between Stuart Pearce and Arsene Wenger.

The Arsenal boss believes the young midfielder should not travel with the England under-21 squad to the upcoming European Championships in Denmark this summer.

The Frenchman cites fatigue and the fact that Wilshere has represented England’s seniors on a number of occasions already this season as to why he shouldn’t participate. Wenger said:

‘Why do you produce a youth system? It is to get them ready to be playing in the first team. Once they play in the first team, your job has been done so you can promote other players.’

Stuart Pearce also had plenty to say on the matter:

‘The indications I have had from Jack is that he wants to play… The clubs will usually follow the lead of the players and if the players want to be there they will be there.’

So, is Jack right to want to play for England’s Under-21 squad and gain more tournament experience in the process, or is Wenger right in wanting to hold his young starlet back from participating?
