Should Arsenal splash out £26M for this Porto star?

|

According to sources, Arsenal and Tottenham are looking to sign Porto goal-scoring sensation Radamel Falcao.

It is widely known that the 25-year-old has a £26 million release clause in his contract. However, should Arsenal splash the amount of cash stated to acquire the Colombian forward this summer?

Falcao has been with the Portuguese outfit for two seasons now, and has an impressive goal to game ratio, netting 73 in 85 appearances in all competitions for the newly crowned Europa League champions.

His goal-scoring form has also seen him beat Jürgen Klinsmann’s record of 15 goals in a single UEFA Cup/Europa League Campaign – 17 goals in 14 games.

His record truly speaks for itself, and I could potentially see a great partnership with Robin van Persie being formed at Arsenal.

However, for me, the question isn’t should Arsenal splash the cash on Falcao, it’s will they. I think you’ll find that realistically we need to spend this amount of money to bring in some quality players this summer. So, if the question is should Arsenal spend the money, then I would say yes without a doubt, the Gunners should take the plunge and buy out Falcao’s release clause before another club does.

Do I think Arsenal will spend £26 million on any player? Sadly, I just don’t see it happening. I hope I’m wrong and that Arsene Wenger has learnt from his past mistakes, and realises that we need to invest in some quality players.

Porto are obviously desperate to keep hold of their number one striker, as negotiations over a new contract are on going.

However, if either team submit the release clause fee of £26 million, then this means that the Portuguese club have to accept the offer and let the player discuss personal terms with the club that tabled the bid…hopefully, that club is Arsenal.

Here is a video of Falcao in action:

Since Benzema rules out himself from a summer move, Falcao will be the main attention soon. 25 mil release clause is a bargain price for Falcao as his value should be higher due to his devastating performance this season. Wenger should consider an offer and i would love to see him at Emirates next season.

    in a word, yes!

Benzema said he see his future in Madrid, but don’t forget, his contract is 1 year left. Unless Madrid start talking new contract with him, he not staying at MAdrid, because he will leave Madrid on bossman . The best part is since he sign 5 years contract for 35M, he only worth 7M, like how the spur got Van der cart for only 8M last year.

falcao is a striker of high repute going by his intimidating record one that arsenal needs to replace the likes of bendtner and i think hes worth every cent.

He looks a good player and his record is very impressive. I just if we get him he is able to produce a similar goal tally because as we all know the premiership is much better then the Portugese league.

If we are going to spend 26 million on a player to me he has to be a striker of Falcaos quality so the fans can see they are getting value for money. Goals speak louder than words and this guy is exciting. With the endless supply of opportunities Arsenal can give him he could rewrite the history books.

First of all as long as Van Persie continues to play half a season i say yes we need at least two more high quality strikers!
Van Persie is a glass player sorry i mean class player ? Maybe i was correct the first time but either way until Robin completes a full season and scores like he did this spring the jury is out and if thats the case bring on falco and Benzeema ,of coarse we know Wenger has short arms and long pockets so dont be holding your breath!
The only saving grace maybe that behind the scenes Wenger may have a new boss to answer to whos less than impressed with the last 6 years and will not allow things to continue down the same road
    That is our man Stan!!!!

Hindsight is a beautiful thing. Except when you could have gotten Falcao and didn’t.

What a difference 2 years makes.
