‘I will do anything to make him stay’

|

Arsene Wenger has vowed to persuade Samir Nasri to sign a new contract amidst fears the France star could quit the Emirates during the summer break.

Nasri has just one year remaining on his current deal and could walk away from the club at the end of next season on a free transfer.

Wenger would never let that happen and would be forced to flog him at the end of this campaign in order to bring in some cash and start his rebuilding. The 23-year-old has apparently been offered a contract worth £80,000-a-week, but the midfielder has yet to put pen to paper. Wenger told Arsenal.com today:

‘The fast target is not to weaken our team but to strengthen it. We are hopeful but we will do it at the end of the season.’

‘I will do anything possible to make him stay, but I never speak about the conversations I have with the players. We will always have to respect our wages schedule. Financial Fair Play will come in, and because I know Chelsea and Man City has voted for it, I hope as well they will respect it.’

  • Paul says:

If Nasri wants to win something wenger will have to sign about six high quality players who can make us better now, wenger can you do that??

    You believe the old fart???
And he speaks about Arsenal’s wage schedule?? What wage schedule? They pay Denilson and Diaby way too much money. They should deduct the money from them and top up Nasri’s.
