Talk is rife as to who is going to add to the squad this summer. Already this week I’ve heard the likes of Valbuena, Parker, Samba and Gervinho linked to the North London club, but I believe the most important signing will make this summer will be from within the club.

It’s been well documented as of late that only has one year left to run on his current contract at Arsenal. Wenger will be working tirelessly to convince Nasri to sign a new deal and tie down one of Arsenal’s shining lights from this season. I believe that if Samir was to put pen to paper this summer, then this would be the best piece of business Wenger could do.

Although big signings are expected by Arsenal fans, I think there are very few players in the world that can give as much to the Arsenal team as Nasri does. We’ve seen this season what the French midfielder can do. His talent has been evident in previous seasons, but his performances weren’t consistent. This season he’s come of age, and at only 23 years of age, he still has a lot to give to Arsenal.

As it seems that may be leaving Arsenal within the next couple of years, it’s imperative that Wenger convinces Nasri to sign a new contract, as I see him as the perfect replacement for the Spaniard when he does eventually return to Barcelona. After seeing Nasri play in the centre of midfield for France, I’ve been longing for Wenger to somehow bring him into the middle of Arsenal’s midfield. If this eventually happens, then I can see Nasri developing into one of the best players in world football.

It also has to be acknowledged that Nasri is only going to get better in the next few years, if Arsenal were to lose him now, then we’d be losing him to a top European club for his best years. This would be a devastating blow to Arsenal, especially having spent the past few years developing the Frenchman into the player he is. It would be a sucker punch to see the player they helped developed, performing at the top of his game at another top club.

The importance of this signing would show to other European clubs that they can’t just pick and choose from Arsenal’s talent. In the past few years, Arsenal have lost the likes of Hleb, Flamini, Adebayor and Toure to rival clubs. Stability brings success, so the sooner Wenger can stop the slow departure of the top players from the club, the better.

Finally, if Nasri doesn’t put pen to paper over the summer, then Wenger has a dilemma on his hands. Does he cash in on the French star this summer?

Wenger signed Nasri for about £12 million in the summer of 2008 – will he want to recoup that money back on the midfielder? Or will he keep him on for next season knowing full well that he could lose him for nothing next summer?

Do you think Nasri will sign a new deal at the Emirates?

If he doesn’t, do you think Wenger should cash in on the Arsenal playmaker? Or would you be willing to lose him for nothing in order to get another season out of him?

Who cares whether he leaves or stays. A team is not an individual.

So why the incessant criticism of Denilson,Rosicky
Bentdner ,Chamakh,Eboue and others who don,t get to play that often ,Saja, they,re all individuals in an Arsenal team ?

But a team is made up of individuals and the better the individuals the better the team. I occasionally watch Gateshead play football. They have great team spirit but they won’t win the FA cup because the individuals in the team simply aren’t good enough.

Agree entirely. It is vital for Arsenal’s immediate future that Nasri stays. When (not if) Fabregas goes, Nasri will replace him as a central attacking m/f, a position we have seen him in too rarely up to now.

For once i agree with wenger…he either signs now or we sell him…..for 2reasons…it shows strength of management and also financially it is the correct decision…and wenger cares a lot for his accounts. If i were nasri i would be asking wenger what plans he has for strengthening the team and specifically with what players he intends to buy.

Are you idiots tripping …. NASRI should get this that & the other & yet FAB should go… WAKE UP… NASRI aint capable or worthy of lacing FABS boots let alone replacing him as our playmaker. FAB will rise to the top next year & pull us from obscurity & once again all the doubters will be chanting his name. He shall go to Barca one day & why would he not want to he grew up a Barca fan… GET OVER IT !!!!!

You say that Cesc will go to Barca one day. That day may well be before next season starts. In that event, Nasri will be a worthy successor as Arsenal’s attacking m/f and (maybe)Captain.

May well be before next season??? So youve been sucked into the paper talk once again like so many have you??? Fabs under contract & going nowhere … even Barca for now. As for worthy successor & captain you should be looking no further than Young jack or Aaron these boys will be the future of Arsenal for years to come & money will be secondary to them if not their agents… unlike a certain frenchman called Nasri it would appear !

    1. I haven’t been “sucked in” at all. Cesc MAY go to Barca this Summer (like he might have gone last summer). Get real.
    2. However good a player he is, he is not,IMO, a good Captain. He leads purely by quiet example, NOT as a driving force, cajoling and urging on his team….a quality sorely missing at times last season.
    3. Unless or until all the facts emerge over the delay in Nasri’s new contract, you would be well advised to keep your semi-racist views to yourself.

Dont that just sum you up nick … semi racist… go and join the the other PC idiots that you would obviously get along with. If you remember correctly i was also speaking up for a certain spaniard (sh*t there goes my vile semi racist mouth once again) called Fabregas of whom incidently i have never said was a good captain have i? As for ” like he might have gone last summer”… He didnt did he… my point exactly idiot

I think it is very important that Wenger does everything in his power to ensure that Nasri sign’s for Arsenal. I hope and wish that he does sign for Arsenal, but if he doesn’t and we lose him then Arsenal will move on. Remember we have lost better players then him and still managed without them. Players that come to mind Henry, Pires, Vieria, Ljungberg, Cole etc.

The most important deal this summer is to bring in Samba at all costs. We need a warrior at the back to stop the comical defending especially in set-piece situation. That is the deal that matters: get Samba within the next week.

This is a game of `bluff`. Wenger is a master but Nasri(or his manager)holds the trump card. Wenger will not let him walk away next year for nothing so (in cash terms) he can offer him some ridiculous wage for two years, retain his services and still sell him at a good profit.
Emotions aside this is a numbers game and Wenger understands numbers.
