Should Arsenal really be targeting this Lille striker?

|

Arsenal are amongst a number of clubs who wish to acquire Lille striker Gervinho this summer, according to talkSPORT.

The 23-year-old Ivorian has been heavily linked with a move to England this summer with Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham all said to be interested in his services.

The 5’11’’ striker, whose contract expires at the end of next season’s campaign, has made it crystal clear to Lille, who currently occupy top spot of Ligue 1, that he intends to leave the club during the summer break.

Knowing this, the French club have now slapped a £10.5 million price-tag on their star player and will look to offload the forward in order to avoid losing him on a free next summer when his contract ends.

The Ivory Coast international has so far managed to net 14 goals in 31 appearances for Lille this season – 27 in 61 since joining the Ligue 1 outfit from Le Mans in 2009.

German giants Bayern Munich, and Serie A outfit Fiorentina, are also believed to be interested in Gervinho’s services. However, a move to the Premier League is far more probable for the Ivorian this summer.

Would Gervinho compliment Arsenal’s style and tactics, if they were to sign him this summer?

Never seen him played before and could not comment. Show video of his game before asking for comment, silly.

why the hell are we hell bent on strikers? we dont need many people to come in. What we need is a mentallity implant. deffensivly we have been much better than previous seasons and I realy dont buy into this crap that Kos is a liability he may have made a few untimley mistakes but who doesnt in there first season in a new country playing for a new team famous for its fragililty at the back. The midfield is by far the most dynamic in the league and dispite what most doomongers would have you believe we have some decent forwards too. I would much rather the team was given more freadom in the final third like taking a pop from outside the box once in a while, letting walcott play through the middle with RVP while being supported by Wiltsher, Fab (if he stays if not Ramsey) and Nasri. My only problem with this is that as the days go by I become increasingly worried that in Samir Nasri we have the mother of all football mercenries. I will never realy doubt the lads ability but I may question his motives. I hope I”m wrong and it maybe just a result of me expecting all our world class players to leave. One final note why cant Wenger promote some of the acadamys players he always seem to boast about and we can finally see who is ready to step upto the plate and stake a claim.

He doesn’t look that good a striker. I have seen him play and I don’t rate him. The fact is we need a striker and he doesn’t fit the bill.

  • Gbangu says:

Gervinho has a good pace n very dangerous at the 3rd half than even Nasir n A23 or Hazard.
