Why Arsenal fans MUST restrain themselves from protesting

|

There is a gathering momentum for a section of fans to demonstrate their unhappiness with Arsene Wenger and the club before the Aston Villa game, the last game of the season. This would be a gigantic miscalculation and have a very negative effect and lead to open divisions and possible crowd disturbances.

The end of season home game is one usually associated with thanking the players and the club for all of their efforts during the season. It is usually conducted with good humour and a fancy dress atmosphere. I acknowledge that there are divisions within the club at the moment, and there are many who feel that neither Arsene Wenger or the Club are showing any signs of regret or an intention of changing the status quo. But to exaggerate the extent of that unhappiness is to play into the hands of those who hate Arsenal Football Club anyway. But it must be serious indeed when the usual anti-Wenger blog sites stop bashing AKBs and join the AST. The problem I have with with sinners repenting is that longstanding Wenger loyalists like me will suspect their real motives, and recall the saying ‘you can’t make a silk purse out of a pig’s ear’

Having said all of that, I suppose I can grudgingly accept any attempts at encouraging fan unity, even if the statements appear insincere by their lukewarm presentation. So I am not asking fans ‘if they are going to protest’ I prefer to take the strident approach and I am calling for WHOAG or whoever they purport to be, NOT to protest in such a public manner in the interests of Arsenal Football Club, True Arsenal fans and in the interests of public order. To ignore my plea will only serve those sections of the media and tabloid press who hate Arsenal. Why give the impression of a terminal crisis when you have not heard the intended solutions? Yes there is unhappiness at the prospect of rising season ticket prices. Yes there is unhappiness at the final results of the club. But to suggest that Arsene Wenger, Ivan Gazidis and Stan Kroenke are unaware of this, and need a public protest to bring it to their attention is just plain silly.

Arsenal Football club has a proud heritage and many support us because we do things ‘The Arsenal Way’ The Metropolitan Police themselves acknowledge that Arsenal fans are some of the best behaved fans in the Capital, so why on earth should we damage our hard earned reputations. I would also ask that there be no rival march in support of Arsene Wenger, as this would be adding fuel to an already overcharged atmosphere. Remember that if you do decide to protest that it will be unfair to the players who have tried to deliver over the long season, and have suffered physical injury in playing for your club, they have also been victim to the unfairness of the FA and its inconsistent officials. Remember that at worst we will finish third in the Premier League, with Champions League football assured for next season. Feed your protests through the fan groups like AISA, Red Action, AST and The Press department at the Club.

You can all be reassured that solutions will be put in place, I understand that plans are being laid to bring in new players and that changes to the coaching staff are being actively considered. So again we must be patient, Arsenal Football Club’s official site will update the fans with statements from Arsene Wenger and of course he will make his plans known to Arsenal TV online. What is clear, is that the unhappiness that many of you feel is not falling on deaf ears. Remember who you are and what club you represent, we are not West Ham, Spurs, Millwall or Chelsea. We are the Pride of London, the number one club, the ARSENAL FFS!

Things not well at arsenal, the trophy drought is not a light matter any more, you cant even tell people you support the club that plays the best football in the land of the brits, we are not aston villa for messi’s sake, the way we are going changes are needed and that is what what the fans are crying for, when a mother pampers a spoiling child it will only reflect what the child will be but when she puts her foot down, that is the hope of the wel being of the child, a peacefull demostration is welcomed

What makes any of you think that Arsenal are entitled to a trophy every year or two ? Have you ever looked back on the clubs’ history. I would bet that 90% of you didn’t support the club before Wenger because if you did you would realise that 6 years without a trophy is entirely normal for this football club. Any of you who supported the club through the 70s and 80s will testify to that.

    • CRAIG GUNNER FOR LIFE COX says:

U SHOULD GO AND SUPPORT SPURS AND THEN U CAN BE HAPPY AND CONTENDED WITH ALL THE TROPHIES U ARE NOT WINNING EVERY YEAR.LONG ON MAN U AND CHEALSEA GO AND TELL THEM THAT THEY DONT NEED TO WIN A TROPHY EVERY YEAR YOU WOULD BE TARRED FEATHERED AND RUN OUT OF TOWN FOR SUCH COMMENTS ARE WE NO BETTER THAN THEM IF NOT WE STILL DONT NEED WENGER AND HIS OUTDATED PHILOSOPHY AS IT WOULD NOT ONLY BE FRUITLESS BUT POINTLESS TO EVER TRY TO WIN ANYTHING.

  • Charlie says:

and what if the fans get what they want. Wenger quits. Chelsea, Man City and Man U will always be more attractive clubs for a manager because the first two can pay whatever it takes and the third is the most successful club of recent times. So then we might get the 3rd best manager that is available not including the three best Sir Alex, Mourinho and Guardiola. We’ll end up with someone who has never won a major trophy and we’ll drop out of the top 4 for the first time in 15 years. Only then will the anti-Wenger mob see their mistake.

am warming up for the protest match and you pipo are letting us down with ur useless opinions,we cant eat, talk in streets becouse of arsenal, wenger should go even today, look what happened to baarca after rijkard,am tired of wenger, share with me on facebook

  • Charlie says:

Rijkaard would’ve probably had success if he stayed. So i hear that he’s unemployed at the moment. I support everything Wenger has achieved but i’d be open to the idea of Rijkaard replacing him.

  • CRAIG GUNNER FOR LIFE COX says:

u need to stop talking sh*t and open your eyes or is it that you are being payed to talk such nonsense by wenger himself !!!!I for one am tired of all the lame played out excuses,of which i am guilty of at times, as to why we have not won any trophy what so ever in the past six years.its time to face the truth and as Cesc put it, we ave to decide whether we want to be a nursery a keep on developing kids or if we want to be champions. to me it seems as if wenger is incapable of meking the tough decisions with regards to who to sell and who to buy. he has also lied blatantly to the fans about several key players and their respective injury in a desperate attempt to persuade us he doesn’t need to spend when even the fabled three blind mice can see that several fringe players, rosicky eboue denilson diaby and bedntner no to be sold and quality players brought in to replace them. i would even mention our defence or lack lack there of because it is the same problem that has now become a nightmare and wenger and his rag tag pack of idlers and jokers NEED TO GO…. SO I SAY TO ALL DISGRUNTLED FANS PROTEST, BECAUSE MEDIOCRITY CAN NO LONGER BE ALLOWED TO ALLOWED’FLY’ AND UNLESS THERE IS A CHANGE OF PHILOSOPHY, MANAGER AND MORE IMPORTANTLY TRANSFER POLICY WE WONT HAVE A CHANGE IN FORTUNE AND RESULT AND THE ONLY THING THAT WILL BE GATHERING IN OUR TROPHY CABINET WILL BE DUST AND COBB WEBS..

  • Pete says:

Funny how an article being very pro AKB has more comments against it. Maybe that shows the depth of feeling against the current running of OUR club. Been a supporter long before Wenger arrived and will be here a long time after he goes.

  • CallyRd says:

    Total & utter bollocks.

I do hope the club give you a discount on next seasons shirt for the above
