FIVE things we learnt about Arsenal today – Have your say

|

I’m really tired of saying this but here goes. Arsenal once again dropped two vital points at the Emirates after playing 101 minutes against Liverpool earlier today, which has left the Gunners title hopes hanging in the balance.

Wenger’s men were moments away from bagging all three crucial points after Robin van Persie netted home a 97th minute penalty which Cesc Fabregas had won. However, referee, Andre Marriner, audaciously awarded a 101st minute penalty to Liverpool after the fourth official had put up eight minutes of extra time on the board.

Arsene Wenger believes the penalty was a soft one, but having seen the incident over and over again, I simply can’t agree with the Frenchman. Evidently, Dirk Kuyt slotted home the very late equaliser, and as a result, Arsenal’s chances of being crowned Premier League champions are fading quickly.

A majority of Arsenal fans will point blame at Marriner for adding an extra three minutes on top of the eight allocated, but ultimately the Gunners have once again shot themselves in the foot.

So, what FIVE things did we learn about Arsenal today?

The guy who says kos is overrated, must be thinking with his ass. Only a small fraction of arsenal fans praise kos, while pple like u want to see cahill, samba, puyol, etc in defence for arsenal without supporting the players you have. Shame! Despite the fact eboue should ve allowed lucas go with the ball,it is childish to blame wenger for today’s draw. I know some ignorant fans will claim the reason for the draw is cos wenger did not buy but that will be cos they re clueless. If i were english,i would weep at the way these refs and cohorts re ridiculing english football week in,week out yet call uefa and fifa corrupt. How do u explain a game that should end 98mins,ending 101mins? Those saying arsenal can’t defend a goal for 3mins shouldn’t forget the goal came from a soft penalty when the game should ve ended and not a player scoring from a chance during play. Would the ref give dat penalty if it were man u,at the death of a game?

Ref decisions are always against us.Dat is d reason man u win matches n trohies cos d ref constantly favour dem.AW pls buy quality CF,AM,DM and 2CB plssss

    2. Arsene nid to play bendtner as a striker
3.Wenger nid to buy a good AM and sell fab
4.Wenger must bring in a good DM
    5. Wenger must buy a RF( referee)

Fact of the matter is this….motivation and desire counts much more than ability!….and that starts with the boss…and he is like a father that spoils his brat children instead of whoopin them when the don’t perform!. Too many players on a free ride and its us the fans who paying them!
..BUT…and I mean BUT….start waking up all of you to the dodgy decisions that seem to be going against us…strange how alex ferg was in the stands and we had 12 mins injury time instead of 8…oh and a penalty given in those extra 4 mins….stinks to me!!!

Fact is Arsenal are not penetrating. 5 in midfield and just RVP upfront is not working. We looked more dangerous with Chamakh upfront and Nasri in the middle – with Jack, Fab, Nasri, Walcott, Song, Diaby, Denilson, Rosicky, Arshavin…we are accomodating too many but still without enough variety for options. Arshavin nor Nasri rarely get to the by-line on the left..(how badly do we miss Pires) and if walcott is off-form, we have no width at all. Needs 4-4-2…and RVP would be more effective with a leader of the line alongside him.

    5 things
    1) Need a 20+ goal a season striker playing in a 2 man forward line
    2) Need a penetrative left sided player that doesn’t always cut back inside…its so narrow
    3) Need a leader on the park – I’d even swap Scott Parker for Diaby/Song?
    4) Stick with AW and see if having the opportunity to spend big changes things next season
    5) We seem to have solved our golkeeper #1 position and in Djourou the beginnings of a solid defence. Need Vermaalen back and one new defence leader added….
    so
..the team is close but ..no enchalada with this current crew/tactics.

I don’t understand why you keep saying where the 3 min came from.do the math,an arsenal penality given at the 96th min and than taken at the 97(time beetwin the argiung and celebration) the game started at the 98 min and then it was directly to the freekick and then pk and we should agree that referes never blow the whistle on opposition half…tell me where was the ref wrong?? Let’s not see it on our own point of vew ONLY

Note that the reality denialist aren’t saying that ‘in the extra time added on the gunners could have scored two more goals’. Because the couldn’t and wouldn’t have. They mount a better defense of the indefensible Wenger management than the back four could ever do. Liverpool were mediocre and other teams we’ve lost or drawn with have been mediocre ‘there for the taking’ but we didn’t. The squad are all ‘made in Wengerland’, all his own work so if it’s about ability, quality, spirit and organisation it’s his responsbility. Not the ref, not the pitch, not the sightlines, not tiredness, not the clock – it’s you Arsene. Perhaps you have noone near to you who’ll tell you the truth.

  • Plumpy says:

    1. Arsenal are not capable of closing games out.
    2. The defence is still rubbish.
    3. Not enough leaders on the pitch.
    4. Arsenal need to change formation, this 4-5-1 system is not working, bring back 4-4-2 so RVP can get some assistance up front.
    5. Half the 23 man squad is not could enough.
    6. We need a 20 a goal striker or forget about winning anything.

I know this is six but I couldn’t really get rid of anyone of them as they are all important.

On another note, I know people say the team needs to take responsibility and not Wenger, I partually agree because the players do need to take responsibility but for me anyway Wenger needs to take responsibility as he is the one who chooses the team, decides on tackics and buys the players.

Thousands of Arsenal can not be wrong about these issues. Wenger plain and simply is a stubborn man and in my opinion has taken Arsenal as far as he can. How many seasons will it before we win a title, I hope it is soon but I don’t see it happening for a very long time.
