Should Arsenal starlet Oguzhan Ozyakup ‘follow footsteps’ by sealing loan deal next season?

|

Arsenal youth star Oguzhan Ozyakup has revealed that he would jump at the opportunity of a loan deal next season as he believes it would enhance his game immensely.

The highly-rated 18-year-old has seen a number of team-mates such as Henri Lansbury and Benik Afobe reaping the benefits of a temporary deal away from the Emirates, which has left the Dutch midfielder wanting to follow in their footsteps next season.

Arsenal have once again highlighted their policy of sending out their youngsters on loan by sealing a record seventeen temporary deals away from the club this season. Along with others, Ozyakup will undoubtedly be hoping that he will be apart of the next batch of loanees sent out next season. The creative midfielder, who was brought in from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar in 2008, told the official Arsenal website:

‘Looking at people like Henri Lansbury and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, they all have done really well on loan. When you look at them you want to go on loan as well. I’ve spoken to Benik Afobe about it and he has told me about the added pressure, but he likes it.’

‘It helps you grow up as a player, you have to show your character and you have to be mature.’

The teenager finished off by saying:

‘It’s a different experience and you can learn to play in bigger stadiums, you have to win every game and there is always pressure. Playing for three points is different.’

Although I’ve never seen him play, I have heard a lot of good things about Ozyakup and the talent he possesses. Many of the Arsenal staff have already likened him to club captain Cesc Fabregas in terms of his technical ability and movement, which sounds very promising.

At 18 years of age a loan deal can only be beneficial for the Dutch midfielder’s progression, you only have to look at Jack Wilshere’s transformation at Arsenal to see what a temporary move away from the North London club can truly bring. The 19-year-old was loaned out to Bolton for six-months last season and is now an intricate part of the Arsenal line-up, as well as challenging for a spot in the England senior side. This is not to say that this will happen to Ozyakup, but there is always a chance.

I would personally prefer Ozyakup (if he were to be loaned next season out of course) to clinch a temporary deal with a Premier League outfit rather than go abroad, purely for the fact that he can learn what the English game is all about. However, this will be up to Wenger and Ozyakup to decide next year.

I have to say that you’ve right, if he were loaned out, which I think he should be, it has to be to an English team, preferably Premiership or top-level Championship.
He’s got talent but he needs to develop physically if wants to improve and break into the first team.

I don’t know too much about this player, but I think he should be loaned out so he can some vital first team experience. If he gets loaned out it should be to a premier league team where he’ll be able to develop as a player and learn how the English game works.

Top youth player, he will no doubt grace the first team within the next 2-3 years if all goes according to plan of course

I don’t like the idea of sending all our youngsters out on loan. I won’t mind if some can get that chance but no all of them some have to get that experience from Arsenal itself so that they know the culture and determination to win games. so if Wenger can have two players on the bench every season that will help as they will tell themselves that we can do better than other Arsenal regulars this season.

the idea of loaning youngsters is a good one but not all of them. to support my statement, look at Messi,Pedro, and other stars like Rooney they never went out on loan they learn their way through training with first team players and that’w were they proved themselves they are world beaters.
