What FIVE things did we learn about Arsenal in the Carling Cup final yesterday?

|

Wenger’s men, and in particular the Frenchman, will more than likely be licking their wounds today after suffering a deplorable 2-1 defeat at the hands of Birmingham City in the Carling Cup final yesterday, and more importantly, blowing a golden opportunity to end their trophy drought.

In truth the North London side never played to their full capacity. The Gunners had a number of chances to put Alex McLeish’s side to bed, but it seemed they came across a goalkeeper in Ben Foster who certainly seemed to have had his Weetabix before the game. Arsenal’s failure to capitalise came back to haunt them after eventually being undone by a defensive calamity between Laurent Koscielny and Wojciech Szczesny which gifted Obafemi Martins the winner.

The Arsenal faithful looked absolutely distraught when the full-time whistle was blown, and quickly made for the exits doors. As far as Arsene Wenger goes, he will undoubtedly be receiving a lot of stick from the media after failing to end the Gunners trophy drought against a lesser team.

So how are Arsenal fans feeling today, and what five things did we learn about our team yesterday?
