Arsenal v Birmingham City – Who’s your money on?

|

Both Arsenal and Birmingham City will be looking to capture and lift the Carling Cup at Wembley this afternoon, but which team will have the honour of doing so?

Let’s start with Arsene Wenger’s lot. Needless to say, Arsenal’s run in this year’s competition has been nothing short of brilliant.

The Gunners have knocked out (in great fashion) Tottenham, Newcastle, Wigan and Ipswich to reach Wembley this season, and many pundits and fans (neutrals included) believe that the North London side will end their trophy drought against Birmingham City this afternoon.

On the other hand, Alex McLeish’s side have done equally well to book their place at Wembley. The Blues overcame Rochdale, MK Dons, Brentford, Aston Villa and West Ham to compete for the three handle trophy. However, with Arsenal on form and firing on all cylinders, Birmingham City will have to produce something special to leave with the cup this afternoon.

Bet 365 have made Arsenal clear favourites to win at 8/15, whilst the Blues are at 11/2 to triumph…no real surprises there then.

If Arsenal show up and produce what they are truly capable of this afternoon, then I can only see a straightforward win for the Gunners (even with Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott ruled out). However, Birmingham City will fancy their chances and shouldn’t be taken lightly, it is a final after all…anything can happen.

If I was a betting man, then I would seriously look at a 2-1 win for Arsenal and Robin Van Persie to score at anytime at 12/1.
