has today confirmed that will not be joining fierce rivals Arsenal this month, but who says we want him at the Emirates ‘Arry?

We all know that is looking to recruit a centre-back this January, after losing through injury, and learning that will require surgery to his troublesome Achilles. However, surely Woodgate is not the answer.

The 31-year-old defender has recently returned to full fitness following a long spell on the sidelines due to injury, and has made just 3 appearances for Spurs so far this season.

When asked about a potential move to the Gunners this January, Redknapp told Sky Sports:

‘No, not a chance. We wouldn’t let him go there. We want to keep him.’

Personally, I don’t understand why, if Arsenal are indeed considering this transfer this month, to be looking at a player who has spent more time in the treatment room than on the pitch.

I won’t lie, and will say that I did in the past rate Jonathan Woodgate when he was playing for Leeds and Newcastle. However, since his departure from Tyneside in 2004, his career has taken a turn for the worst. The centre-back has clearly become an injury-prone player, and has undoubtedly, lost his sharpness over the years. So for Arsenal to be interested in the Englishman’s services completely bamboozles me to the max.

This is Jonathan Woodgate’s fourteenth season since he hit the football scene in 1998. To this date, he has only managed to rack up a total of 235 appearances (in both England and Spain combined) which works out to be approximately 16-17 appearances a season…says it all really doesn’t it?

Redknapp may think that his comments regarding Woodgate staying put at White Hart Lane may have broken several Arsenal fans hearts, but quite frankly ‘Arry, we don’t want ‘Woody’ anywhere near the Emirates this month, or in fact anytime soon.

Arsenal should turn their attention to a more youthful centre-back this January. A centre-back who preferably has Premier League experience under his belt, and more importantly, one that is not prone to injury.

Woodgate to Arsenal? do me a favour. Can’t believe how Harry thinks we want, or need the guy. I can’t even remember the last game he played in it’s been that long. No way we want him near the Emirates this month.

Are you serious, Woodgate to Arsenal, he barely plays a game all season and we’re linked with him, what a joke. Harry don’t flatter yourself, we don’t want him at Arsenal, he’s absolute garbage.
